Pathway to Med School
The Albany Area Primary Health Care, Inc, Southwest
Georgia Family Medicine Residency and the Southwest Georgia Area Health
Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) have developed a program for college
students who are interested in going into the fields of Family Medicine
and Primary Care.
The program consists of shadowing physicians
in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics, working on research
projects, and attending seminars to enhance the participants ability
to gain admission into medical school.
Students who are actively pursuing an approved
pre-med curriculum and plan to attend medical school are eligible to
apply. The program can accept only a limited number of students and
early application is strongly recommended.
Preference will be given to students from the
SOWEGA-AHEC 38 counties.
