You can work directly with patients in careers such as registered nursing, athletic training, or counseling or, “behind the scenes” in careers like health information or biomedical engineering.

If you’re thinking about your future, we invite you to come to the SOWEGA-AHEC office to talk about career opportunities in health care. Make an appointment with a member of our staff for this FREE service. We will schedule several sessions to discuss your interests, experience, education, and your ideas about the future. As part of our Career Counseling Service we will arrange shadowing experiences with health professionals, and you will be trained on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). We will make sure you are prepared to go into a medical office or hospital setting for shadowing experiences.
