TEACH = "Teachers Exploring and Advocating Careers in Health"
This curriculum was created to provide teachers with stimulating, interactive sessions that would ultimately make them very knowledgeable about (1) the shortages of health care professionals, (2) skills and aptitudes required for various health careers, (3) what health professionals do in their various chosen careers by shadowing them intensely, (4) the job availability for the next 10 years--according to the Department of Labor, (5) resources that are available to them to use while guiding students in careers exploration, (6) educational requirements for health professions. The curriculum can be used by hospitals, Workforce Initiative Boards, technical colleges, AHECs, and those trying to assist with the health profession shortages nationwide. It was created to be used as a three-day intensive, comprehensive program but could be adapted to a shorter length. The instruction manual details every aspect of planning and implementing TEACH Academy. A CD-ROM version accompanies the manual, enabling you to use sample forms and materials by changing minimal information.
