Southwest
Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) is pleased to present
the seventh edition of Health Careers in Georgia. This publication is
produced through the partnership of the Georgia Statewide AHEC Network.
We would like to thank all the people who contributed time, expertise,
information and resources in support of this publication. The
researching and publishing of Health Careers in Georgia is funded
significantly by a grant from Healthcare Georgia Foundation. Created in
1999 as an independent, private foundation, the Foundation’s mission is
to advance the health of all Georgians and to expand access to
affordable, quality healthcare for underserved individuals and
communities. Other funders besides the six AHECs are the Medical
College of Georgia and the State Office of Rural Health. The financial
aid information was provided by the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
Photographs were contributed by the Georgia Institute of Technology,
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Phoebe Putney Memorial
Hospital, South Georgia Medical Center, University of Georgia School of
Veterinary Medicine, Darton College, Albany Technical College, Emory
University, Grady Memorial Hospital, John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital,
Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia Academy of Technical Wellness,
Medical College of Georgia, Athens Technical College, Mercer University,
Palmyra Medical Centers, and many Albany healthcare providers. Thank
you to the North Carolina AHEC Program for material from their 2004-2006
edition of North Carolina Health Careers.
