id you know you have an AHEC? Georgia Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) are located across the state and provide community- based education for healthcare professionals. There are six centers in the Georgia AHEC Network, and each serves a multi-county region. The AHEC mission is to meet the health needs of Georgia by improving the sup- ply, distribution and quality of healthcare providers.
AHECs are vitally important in the education and careers of individuals involved in the health industry. An AHEC might help a student interested in health occupations find enrichment activities and educational programs before high school graduation. Once the student enters a college or university, AHEC provides support for community-based student training. Health professionals working in Georgia depend on their AHECs for continuing education and access to first-rate library and information services. AHECs offer educational programs in smaller communities so healthcare professionals can continue to work in their community while they earn advanced degrees or attend cutting-edge seminars. |
