edical assistants perform both clinical and administrative
duties.  Most physicians hire at least one medical assistant.
Preparing patients for examinations, they take vital signs, such as
blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration.  They assist
with first aid, collect and process specimens, and perform
procedures such as EKG's.  They also may assist with office
surgery and prepare and maintain patient records, and arrange
hospital admissions.  They type reports, process health
